The experimental research is directed towards development of laser-based diagnostic methods for Combustion Physics. In the area of Combustion Physics, methods of measurement; mainly laser diagnostics, are being developed and used to determine the quality of and conditions (e.g. temperature, concentrations) in various combustion processes. Mathematical and chemical models of combustion processes are also being developed and used.

KCFP will focus on combustion processes between "conventional" HCCI (Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition) and the classical Otto and Diesel concepts. Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top 100 universities.
Introduction Temperature measurements are very important in combustion environment. Some combustion reactions are temperature-dependent, combustion processes release heat, and temperature affects radiation such as chemiluminiscence, Planck radiation. Laser
Plasma assisted combustion is a very active research field due to the potential of using the technology to improve combustion efficiency and decrease pollutant emission by stabilizing lean burning
